Chandigarh: Haryana and Punjab are witnessing divergent weather patterns today, as one state receives heavy rainfall while the other eagerly anticipates its arrival. Haryana is currently under the spell of persistent rainfall, offering respite from the scorching heat. In contrast, Punjab continues to endure sweltering temperatures, with the mercury soaring up to 37 degrees Celsius, as residents eagerly await the monsoon's arrival, expected within the next two days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted moderate rainfall in Punjab until June 30. Additionally, strong winds are expected to prevail across both states for the next five days.
What to Expect in Haryana Today
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is expected today, June 29, in several districts of Southeast Haryana, Western Haryana, and Southwest Haryana. The maximum temperature is not expected to rise significantly over the next four days. Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy showers are likely to occur in these regions, while some districts may experience light drizzles.

A yellow alert has been issued in the following districts: Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Nuh, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Sonipat, and Panipat. In the southwest districts of Jind, Charkhi Dadri, Hisar, Bhiwani, Sirsa, and Fatehabad, heavy rainfall is expected. In essence, the entire Haryana region will witness rainfall activities, with 16 districts having the possibility of receiving showers. Additionally, some districts in North Haryana may experience rainfall between June 30 and July 1.
Monsoon on a Fast Track
This year, the monsoon is progressing at an accelerated pace, thanks to the formation of a low-pressure area over northeastern Madhya Pradesh. This phenomenon has propelled the monsoon's advance, resulting in its coverage across most parts of the country. Several states are expected to witness rainfall today, with heavy showers anticipated in certain regions.
