In a historic performance at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Harleen Deol etched her name in the annals of Indian women’s cricket with a scintillating maiden ODI century. Her remarkable knock of 115 runs off 103 balls, studded with 16 boundaries, was instrumental in India’s emphatic 115-run victory over the West Indies in the second ODI, sealing the three-match series 2-0.
India posted a mammoth total of 358/5 in their 50 overs, matching their highest-ever ODI score achieved against Ireland in 2017. The innings was built on a solid foundation laid by the opening partnership of Smriti Mandhana (53) and debutant Pratika Rawal (76), who added 110 runs for the first wicket. Rawal’s all-round performance, including her maiden international wicket, added to India’s dominance.
The West Indies, despite a spirited start, were bundled out for 243, handing India a comfortable series-clinching victory.
Reflecting on her memorable knock, Harleen Deol said, “Baroda has always been special to me. Scoring my first century here is like a dream come true. It’s just God’s plan.”
This performance underscores the depth of talent in the Indian women’s cricket team as they gear up for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup. The victory also highlights India’s growing dominance in the international arena, with emerging players stepping up when it matters most.
