Chandigarh: Punjab's border security just got a major boost! Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has cleared a project worth Rs. 176.29 crores to protect Border Out Posts (BOPs) along the International Boundary Fencing from flooding. This move aims to strengthen national security, especially since Punjab is a border state.
Key Highlights of the Project
28 Sites Identified: The project will cover 28 sites across Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Pathankot, and Gurdaspur districts.
Flood Protection: The initiative will safeguard BOPs from floodwaters of Rivers Ravi, Sutlej, and Ujh.
Embankment Construction: The project includes building embankments in Tarn Taran (1788 feet), Ferozepur (1050 feet), and Gurdaspur (2875 feet).
Additional Infrastructure: The project will also feature 29140 feet of Revetment, 22 spurs, and 95 studs.
Beneficiary Land: Approximately 8695.27 hectares of land will benefit from this project.
This strategic move will enhance the security of the country's borders and protect national interests.
