Chandigarh: Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has welcomed the probe by Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit into the deep concern of illegal sand mining along the border. He said that this is a serious and fatal crime of the Punjab government, which continues to be negligent in this matter despite the orders of the High Court and information provided by the security agencies.Warring has supported the governor's idea of filing a sedition case against those involved in illegal sand mining. In a statement issued from here, the state Congress President has welcomed the efforts made by the Governor to wake up the Punjab government from its slumber. He recalled that the Congress party had demanded an NIA probe into illegal sand mining on the borders. Reiterating his appeal to the Governor,Warring said that now Governor too have expressed his concern and have seen for himself how illegal mining is going on along the borders, which poses a threat to national security. Therefore, there can be no reason not to recommend an NIA probe into the matter at the earliest. The state Congress president said that he has no hope from the Punjab government trapped in the trap of wrong priorities of its Delhi leadership. Due to which their agenda is being pushed in Punjab and they have no concern for the interests of Punjab or its SYL. This is why only the governor can prove to be the guardian of national security and national interests.
