Washington: Peach king & Sikh leader Didar Singh Bains dies in USA.
Didar Singh entered USA with $8 only. He started driving tractors in fields for 75 cents an hour,
we used to work very hard and purchased his peach orchard.
In 1978, he became the largest peach grower in California. He bought land in 13 counties. He acquired around 667 acres near Sacramento International Airport
and helped in developing western Yuba City.
His hard work paid of and he became richest man of Northern California and had wealth of more than $50 million.
In 1980 he became turbaned sikh as he was inspired from saints who visited Yuba city.
living in Yuba city he was active to development of Tierra Buena Gurdwara Sahib and organised Nagar Kirtans.
Bains was born on 10th January, 1939. After the Blue Star Operation in Amritsar he became the president of the World Sikh organization. He met Indira Gandhi, Giani Zail Singh, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and various sikh leaders to solve Sikh issues. He promoted Kabbadi and also became the founder chairman of the World Kabbadi federation.
